Mentoring to 2020

Why is a mentoring program right for me?

Do you want to take your business to the next level?  It’s as simple as that. If the answer is, “Yes,” then you already know that the same level of thinking that got you to where you are today is not going to get you to that next level.  You need a shift in perspective. While the rare individual can make that shift alone, having a mentor who has traveled a similar path and can illuminate the way for you is the fastest way to achieve your desired goal.

Goal setting and goal realization is nothing new. New thought writes such as Wallace D. Wattles (The Science of Growing Rich) have been revealing these inner secrets since the early 1900’s. Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich, (published in 1937), Maxwell Maltz (author of Psycho-Cybernetics, published in 1960) and many others have shared the keys to having a profoundly satisfying life experience.

If you want to “learn from the masters” at a fraction of the cost of a graduate education, and in a fraction of the time, then working with a mentor is the way to go!

What can a mentorship program do for me?

Mentorship comes in many forms. I’ve been in mentoring programs with a formal curriculum. I’ve been in mentoring programs that just seemed to meander from topic to topic each week. They all have something in common – you have a rare and unique opportunity to learn from a master in a private, confidential, one-on-one, or very small group setting. Even with a more formal program, the focus is on you.

Let me tell you something else about mentoring. If you are the CEO/President/Founder of your own company, you may have already learned that “it’s lonely at the top.”  You cannot rely on your employees, or even your business partners, to provide leadership in your organization. The vision, direction and moral fiber of your business are all about you. In the words of Jerry McGuire, you “set the tone.”

2019-2020 Mentorship Program

The focus of our 2019-2020 Mentorship Program is the following:

  • Desire – Personal planning & goal-setting
  • Competence – Commercial Mortgage Fundamentals
  • Sales – prospecting/lead generation/relationship building
  • Communication – principles of human interaction
  • Authenticity – projection of your essential self

Desire: All growth, all advancement, begins with Desire. When you fully identify what is truly in your heart, and your mind is in alignment, then you can create a crystal-clear picture of your desired future. Blue-printing, and planning, aka scripting your future, gives you a path to follow in the direction of your goals.

Competence: While a mentorship is not focused on attaining new skills, to truly achieve, one should aim for mastery in their chosen profession. We will point you toward additional resources that can help you attain this goal; however, the program will provide a basic understanding of commercial mortgage lending. For those outside the industry, you will find the focus on lead generation and sales conversion extremely helpful.

Sales: Everybody is in sales. As one of my mentors once pointed out, in every conversation, there is enrolling (or selling.) Either you are enrolling the other person into your way of thinking, or they are enrolling you into theirs. The focus on sales skills will help you identify and strengthen your persuasive skills.

Communication: Human communication is 7% words and 93% non-verbal. By expanding your understanding of non-verbal (and verbal) communication, you will be developing life skills that take all of your relationships to a higher level.

Authenticity: It is often said that people buy from people who they know, like and trust.  In general, people are drawn to others who are similar to who they are. Most of us want to be known and accepted for who we are. By practicing standing in your authenticity, you will find people being drawn to you who want to experience what you have to offer.
